Paths to Membership
1. By Profession of Faith
Any person desiring to confess faith in Jesus Christ and desiring to live a Christian life does so through the sacrament of baptism, which is the symbol of Godís grace through Jesus Christ. Therefore, you may become a member of Asbury through profession of faith and baptism.
2. By Transferring from another Christian denomination
Since you have been baptized into the Christian faith in another denomination, we honor your baptism and accept your pledge of loyalty to Asbury.
3. By transferring from another United Methodist Church
Arrangements will be made to transfer your membership from another United Methodist Church. All of the membership details will be handled by our church staff.
Steps to Membership
1. Meet with a Pastor.
Call the church office (984-4211) and set up a time to meet with a pastor that is convenient for you.It is important that families get to know one another.
2. Attend A Discipleís Path.
This six-week study combines a Wesleyan understanding of our growth in Godís love and grace with the time-tested practices of spiritual discipline expressed in the membership vows to uphold the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
Participants will develop spiritual practices, discover their unique gifts and how they may become engaged in ministry that brings transformation in their own lives, the lives of others, and the world.
3. Reception at the Altar
Come forward in the service of your choice during the singing of the last song.You will be asked to pledge support and loyalty to this part of the Body of Christ known as Asbury United Methodist Church.
