Community Missions

Community Missions

The Asbury congregation seeks to exhibit the hands, feet and heart of God as we participate in building community in the Lafayette area through our own initiatives as well as with our collective actions in cooperation with existing community missions.

Asbury in Mission to the Community

Asbury Nook:

Volunteers collect and sort clothing and baby items for needy children and adults in the community. If you would like to volunteer or make a donation of clothes, baby items, or a monetary donation, please contact Asbury at 337-984-4211

Giving Tree:

This mission fundraiser occurs during the Christmas holidays. Asburians "adopt” children in need of Christmas gifts. Families are provided with holiday meals. Additionally, other local mission efforts are chosen to receive assistance throughout the year.

Love Fund:

Donations to the Love Fund are used throughout the year to help persons with utility bills or other pressing needs. Asburians are given first priority. Asbury receives many calls a week for assistance. We work closely with United Christian Outreach and Love, Inc. to faithfully help those who are in real need.

Servants on Standby (SOS):

SOS is a collaboration of Asbury and Love, INC. that provides assistance to those in need of services such as home & auto repairs, house cleaning, transportation to doctors, etc. If you are able to volunteer from time to time to help someone in need, please contact Ron Mount at 337-806-5636.

Assisted Living/Nursing Home Ministry:

Volunteers lead worship and serve communion at local facilities on Thursdays. Gift bags are delivered at holiday times. Contact Jeanie at 337-234-1861.

Meals-On-Wheels:

Drivers are needed to deliver meals to homebound persons 60+ years of age. YOU can volunteer to deliver meals by calling Diane at 337-984-4211.
