International Missions

The Kingdom of God is participatory. All Christians are called by their baptism to serve. That means YOU! Asbury provides resources and sends people to serve those who are far away.

Listed below are some of the ways you can join our efforts to be the Body of Christ.

International Missions through Volunteers in Mission:

These international trips and domestic trips allow us to serve the people of God in other locations. Asbury will send one Medical mission team and one construction team to Panama in June of 2015 and one construction teams Haiti in February of 2016. Contact Susan at 984-4211 to see how you may participate.

Asbury mission team has been recognized on the Louisiana Conference website for their additional work in New Orleans at St. Markís UMC. Several times a year, they recruit persons to worship with, and then feed, the hungry of downtown New Orleans.

Dressing Godís Children with Love:

Dressing Godís Children with Love is a non-denominational Christian organization dedicated to providing clothing to impoverished girls worldwide. Each handmade dress accompanies our mission teams, as well as other mission teams, to be distributed. Village pastors have said that giving a girl a new dress "raises her dignity," improving how she is viewed by others. Spearheaded by Rita Boyd, volunteers from Asbury UMC have sewn more than 100 dresses for girls around the world in 2014. As this ministry continues, fabric and monetary donations are appreciated. People who can sew or assemble are always welcome to join this worthy effort. Plans are to provide homemade shorts with T-shirts for boys in 2015.
